confidentiality

What you discuss during your therapy session is held in complete confidence and I will never share any information with others unless I ask you first, or I absolutely need to because there is acute risk.  There are some things that all Psychotherapists are duty bound to look into further and may need to support you to keep yourself and others safe, such as If you tell us that you have plans to harm yourself and others, or that a child is at risk of being harmed. I work within a positive risk-taking model and pay attention to dignity of risk, this means I will always discuss this firstly in your assessment in detail, so you are clear about your privacy, and then in our sessions. I am not reactive and have a lot of experience managing risk to keep you safe and functioning.

I attend regular clinical supervision where I talk about my clinical cases.  I do not mention names or any identifiers, so everyone remains anonymous.  My clinical supervisor is also bound by confidentiality.  Clinical supervision is a necessary process for all psychotherapists to ensure safety and high-quality standards.

I will discuss consent and privacy with you on your first appointment and provide you with information.
